چکیده

Growth of epitaxial gold silicide islands on bromine-passivated Si(111) substrates has been studied by optical and electron microscopy, electron probe micro analysis and helium ion backscattering. The islands grow in the shape of equilateral triangles up to a critical size beyond which the symmetry of the structure is broken, resulting in a shape transition from triangle to trape-zoid. The island edges are aligned along Si[110] directions. We have observed elongated islands with aspect ratios as large as 8:1. These islands, instead of growing along three equivalent [110] directions on the Si(111) substrate, grow only along one preferential direction. This has been attributed to the vicinality of the substrate surface.

Ultraviolet detectors based on annealed zinc oxide thin films: epitaxial growth and physical characterizations

In this report, ultraviolet (UV) detectors were fabricated based on zinc oxide thin films. The epitaxial growth of zinc oxide thin films was carried out on bare glass substrate with preferred orientation to (002) plane of wurtzite structure through radio frequency sputtering technique. The structural properties indicated a dominant peak at 2θ=34.28º which was matched with JCPDS reference card N...

Structural investigation of Fe silicide fiil s grown by pulsed laser deposition

Pulsed laser deposition was used to grow epitaxial p-FeSis films on Si(ll1) (1X1) and Si(ll1) (7X7) with the following epitaxial orientations: P-FeSi2(OOl)//Si(lll) with @-FeSi~OlO]//Si(llO) and three rotational variants’silicide growth was influenced by substrate temperature and deposition rate, but not by the structure of the starting surface. Films containing both P-FeSia and FeSi were forme...

Induced Superconductivity and Engineered Josephson Tunneling Devices in Epitaxial (111)-Oriented Gold/Vanadium Heterostructures.

We report a unique experimental approach to create topological superconductors by inducing superconductivity into epitaxial metallic thin film with strong spin-orbit coupling. Utilizing molecular beam epitaxy technique under ultrahigh vacuum conditions, we are able to achieve (111) oriented single phase of gold (Au) thin film grown on a well-oriented vanadium (V) s-wave superconductor film with...

Longitudinal Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in Ce:YIG Thin Films Incorporating Gold Nanoparticles

We report an experimental study on optical and magneto-optical properties of Cesubstituted yttrium iron garnet thin films incorporating gold nanoparticles. Au nanoparticles were formed by heating Au thin film on cubic quartz and garnet substrate in vacuum chamber and a Ce:YIG layer was deposited on them by the aid of Pulsed laser deposition method. A large enhancement of the longitudinal Kerr e...

MOCVD growth of non-epitaxial and epitaxial ZnS thin films

Thin films of ZnS have been deposited by MOCVD on both BaTa206/ITO/glass and Si substrates. Diethylzinc (DEZn) and H2S are used for deposition on substrates heated to the 250-400°C temperature range. The microstructure and properties of ZnS films were studied by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometry (UVS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Films prepared on BaTa...
